HYDRATION & WATER

We constantly hear that we should drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water a day. It really is all dependent on the individual but yes drinking water is crucial to ones health. There’s a reason why there are so many different types of water and that’s because not all are the same. What differentiates them is usually the price , and nutrient content. The main types of drinking water are tap water, mineral water, spring water, distilled water, and purified. Tap Water: Water that comes out from your sink faucet. Tap water is typical safe to drink, however there is a possibility that it can contain pesticide residue, aluminum etc. Mineral Water: Comes from a mineral spring that is packed with minerals such as magnesium, and calcium. This is your typical sparkling water. There are some minerals in it but not a significant amount. Spring water: This is your typical bottled water. Comes from an underground source of water, then filtered to remove unwanted particles. Distilled Water: Water that comes from collected steam from boiling water. This type of water has no mineral or vitamins. Not the best option for drinking as the lack of mineral tend to pull minerals from your body. Purified water: water that under goes a purification treatment to eliminate bacteria. This is the same water you find at the grocery store or the water that gets filtered with a home filter.

So what’s the verdict?

Well considering that bottled water could be coming from the same source used for tap water it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better. If you live in an area that has good-quality tap water, then there really is no reason to purchase bottled water. Plus if you reduce the amount of bottle water you consume you’ll be doing the environment a favour. .
